MET Gala 2016: Best Dressed
Blake Lively’s dress is a beautiful blush coloured gown embroidered with red leaves. The silhouette of the dress is that of a classic Hollywood style and the added pink shiny material helps create the allusion of skin while also hiding Blake’s small baby bump. The outfit is accessorized with long pearl earrings and an elegant up-do. Blake is in a Burberry Dress. 10/10
Nina Dobrev’s dress is a classic ball gown style in Gold embroidered with traditional leaves and flowers in golds, silvers and white. The embroidery starts off close together and heavy at the top yet cascades down the dress moving with it’s shape getting lighter in feel as it nears the bottom. Nina’s hair and make-up are also traditional and simple enhancing her natural beauty. Nina is in a Marchesa Ball Gown. 10/10
Zoe Saldana’s dress was absolutely breathtaking. with it’s princess ball-gown silhouette and bright colours it was one of the stand out dresses of the night. the use of feathers, circular material and green makes the skirt portion of the dress appear to resemble a peacock. Zoe is in a Dolce & Gabbana ball gown. 10/10
Gigi Hadid’s dress is made up from a silver sequinned body and choker connected together using a dark bluey green sheer material, which is also used for the skirt. it looks classy yet simple and is accessorized with metallic nails and thick silver rings. i would say the look is of a futuristic mermaid. Gigi is in a Tommy Hilfiger dress. 9.5/10
Kendall Jenner’s dress uses a combination of Kendall’s natural skin tone (through delicate cut-outs) with blues and white in a mosaic patten that goes with the natural curve and shape of her body. the use of cut outs around her waist gives her the appearance of a hourglass figure. Kendall is in an Atelier Versace Sheer Gown 9.5/10
Willow Smith’s look is very late 80s early 90s inspired embracing cropped trousers, jumpsuits and baggy jackets from the era. The shiny black material is complimented by a lighter tone of the shade covered in white flecks. Willow is wearing head to toe Chanel. 9.5/10
Bee Shaffer, daughter of Vogue US editor Anna Wintour, wore a black princess shaped dress, including train, the dress is embroidered with colourful flowers that give the illusion of a more hourglass frame. the long sleeves make the dress really stand out from the crowd. Bee is wearing an Alexander McQueen embroidered dress. 9.5/10
Dakota Johnson wore a simple black dress covered in brightly coloured stars in different shapes and colours. the stars are made from lace, while the dress is made from a light sheer material, the top half has a plunging neckline adorned with green lace, while the straps are stringy and simple allowing you to focus on the dress and woman wearing it. Dakolta wore a dress by Gucci. 9/10
Selena Gomez’s look is a more well but together, relaxed yet chic grunge style. Her dress seems to be modelled on the simple slip dresses of the 90′s and is paired with a leather vest and black painted heeled boots. she has paired the look with a high ponytail, a clutch bag and sunglasses.
