Bam In Real Life

Volunteering & Art

Today I want to talk about something that is very important to me and has helped me personally and professionally. Every Monday at midday I volunteer at a local art group for people with mental health issues, disability’s and other health issues. While there I have learnt new skills in crafting as well as more about colour, pattern and shape as well as produced some amazing water colours and even tired my hand at some poetry.

I personally work with a lovely woman with Dementia, which has helped me on a personal level and given me a hands on understanding of the disease, which I lost my grate grandmother to this summer, from this experience i believe that if your hurting or find something hard to cope with volunteering with people who are going through a similar situation can be one of the most therapeutic things you can do.

Volunteering is something that I believe is completely worthwhile for many reasons.

1. it’s a great way to give back to your local community

2. it looks great on you CV/Resume

3. it can be very therapeutic not just for those you work with but for yourself

4. it’s a great way to learn new skills while also learning about yourself.

So if you have some spear time, find somewhere or something you love or believe in and give back, a few hours a week for you could mean so much more to someone in need.
