On 12th July 2025, WWE presented Saturday Night’s Main Event. The Headline slot and big selling point of the show is Goldberg’s retirement match against current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. The rest of the card is filled up nicely with SummerSlam warmer’s.
What Went Down?
The first match of the night featured Randy Orton, who was accompanied by Jelly Roll. He faced off against the master of hate, Drew McIntyre. Drew seems to have teamed up with the ultimate troll, Logan Paul. It was a good little match that felt as old;d school as the night at hand. Jelly Roil and Logan Paul also had some great moments. All in all a fun start to the night that did what it needed to do and was overall enjoyable.
Am I part of the problem or have the WWE just become more selective about their celebrity guests?
The build to Evolution hasn’t been the best but tonight we got as great segment between Queen of the Ring, Jade Cargill and Mrs. Money In The Bank, Naomi. After a real slobberknocker it is revealed that their big fight at Evolution will have a special referee. Enter the BST herself, Bianca Belair, of course it’s her these three just can’t stay away from one another.

Next up match wise we have another brother vs brother match, but this time it’s Jimmy Uso vs Solo Sikoa. This is a masterclass in Samoan Dynasty Wrestling. Everyone involved in this are absolutely fantastic. It’s hard hitting, high flying with all the shenanigans you would expect from these Samoan powerhouses.
I say Samoan but Tanga Loa and Talla Tonga are both Tongan. JC Mateo fka Jeff Cobb is from Hawaii and wrestled for Guam in the 2004 Olympic Games. Maybe we need to call them the Polynesian Powerhouses.
The point is, if you know anything about these guys’ earlier work in New Japan Pro Wrestling, you will recognize their style. They just do this. They have perfected their craft in two of the top heel factions in that company. These factions are Bullet Club and The United Empire. They have brought it to WWE in a BIG way.
Jimmy Uso is beat by Solo Sikoa, which was expected. He did have some help from the rest of his faction. After the match they continue to beat him down which leads to a nice return from the Samoan Werewolf Jacob Fatu.
Jacob Fatu has returned and is ready to take back his United States Championship from Solo Sikoa.

The third match of the night features Money In The Bank Winner and all around Iconic Guy, Seth Rollins. He faces off against LA Knight. This is a hard hitting match which is one of the best of the night, in-ring wise. There is something so incredibly beautiful and captivating about seeing two different styles of wrestling clash inside the squared circle. When done right it will always be the match of the night and this is one of these.
Plus these two have fantastic chemistry and are two of the best storytellers in WWE right now. Everything always makes sense in the ring. It’s very unfortunate that an injury occurred just as it was hitting its peak. At least LA Knight went over, but I need a satisfying ending to this feud.

The Main Event of Saturday Night’s Main Event is ‘The Ring General’ Gunther against the WCW legend Goldberg. It’s his last match. He is in his 50s. I personally never got the appeal of him. However, this is his last match and I’m not gonna rag on him.
Plus, this match has been brewing since October 2024 and is a great sendoff for the big man. Gunther is the perfect choice to make Goldberg look like a million bucks on his way out. Oh and does he just. We get chops. We get mat work. We get a ref bump courtesy of the legend that is Charles Robinson. We have Gunther being an absolute villain in removing Goldberg’s knee brace and attacking his son.
Goldberg does the Jackhammer, THE JACKHAMMER.
This is the best match of Goldberg’s career and of course he left it to last.
