Steve Austin bio

Austin 3:16 The Best of WWE | Review

We follow the iconic career of Stone Cold Steve Austin in a new collection of The Best of WWE entitled Austin 3:16.

The Best of Austin 3:16

We start off with the iconic king of the ring win and following promo that established the Austin 3:16 and the character in general. We then move on to one of the best WrestleMania matches of all time. Of course, I am talking about Steve Austin Vs Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13, with Ken Shamrock, who is wearing my favorite referee look, as the guest referee. Hearing these two men talk about the match after the fact and how they put it together is fascinating. Watching it with this knowledge makes it even better. Before watching this I suggest you go and watch their broken skulls sessions, and try and look out for the blade job that Bret gave to Austin, can you spot when it happened?

Bret Hart Vs Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13

Raw episode 22nd September 1997there was a segment where Owen Hart was cutting a promo before being attacked by Steve Austin. All of this makes sense as Austin has previously feuded with both Owen and Bret Hart. But that isn’t what this segment is about, it’s about building one of the most iconic feuds that lasted through the attitude era, Mr. McMahon Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin. I am pretty sure this is the first time McMahon receives a stunner from Austin, it’s a really great moment to relive.

Next, we have the last part of the 1998 Royal Rumble, which is a great moment but the match itself isn’t one of the best. I would say skip this or fire up the WWE Network or Peacock and watch the whole match. This is followed up by Stone Cold Vs HBK at WrestleMania 14 in the Main Event. This match isn’t spoken about enough but is one of the best main events work-rate-wise and story-wise in its history. I say that because sometimes the undercard is a lot better than the main event, but WrestleMania 14 definitely nails it when it comes to this main event.

On the 6th April 1998 episode of Monday Night RAW a ‘New Era’ is upon us. Steve Austin came to the ring as the ‘New and Improved WWF Champion’, not my words the words of Vince McMahon. He is in a suit & a baseball cap which is so crazy to see, but you feel like there is something about to happen. Mr. McMahon spends the whole-time berating Austin despite his best efforts, and you can tell the Rattlesnake is slowly losing his patience. In classic Austin style, he stays true to who he is and tells his boss where to go. Don’t we all want to be Steve Austin?
