Samoa Joe Vs Minoru Suzuki main evented this weeks AEW Dynamite in a dream match for the ROH Television Championship. The card was great from top to bottom with amazing matches, storyline progression, and a very odd ending. AEW probably will never put on a perfect TV show but this one might have been the closest they have come in a while.
All Killer, No Filler

This show didn’t stop from start to finish with a huge focus on in-ring action to help progress storylines. The night started off with CM Punk taking on the dark and mysterious Penta Oscuro in a match that was fast and serious, this was followed up by a championship match. To be exact the AEW Tag Team Championship was defended in a barnburner of a match with champs Jurassic Express facing off against reDragon. Luchasurus and Jungle Boy are the true definition of fighting champions putting on some of the best matches in AEW every single week.
The rest of the card was great with MJF facing off against Captin Shawn Dean while Skye Blue and Marina Shafir put on a solid match even if the crowd was dead. Elsewhere Jericho, Hager, and Garcia continued their rivalry with Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz while Team TAZ shone in a match against darlings of the industry Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee.
The Blackpool Combat Club Has It All
Let’s just say it now, The Blackpool Combat Club is the coolest and most interesting faction currently on TV. Made up of technical wizard Bryan Danilson, hard-nosed brawler Jon Moxley, and everyone’s favorite British dad William Regal, they have been laying waste to the AEW roster so far. Last week’s Rampage was a triumph for the group with Wheeler Yuta getting the Stone Cold Steve Austin treatment in his match against Mox. The thing is, with his ROH Pure Championship over his shoulder and decked out in darker clothes than before, Yuta doesn’t look out of place with these guys. Yes, he was lots of fun in Best friends/CHAOS but this just feels so right. Now let’s get Jamie Hayter in there to make it an even stronger team.
On Friday, the real work begins

Building to Battle of the Belts II and Beyond
Every match progressed storyline, feuds, and built to this weekend’s Battle Of The Belts II and even beyond. Let’s pinpoint some of the most notable instances of this.
ReDRagon attacked Jurassic Express with chairs from behind after their AEW Tag Team match, soon enough the biggest babyface team, and yes I am being serious, came to the ring. Yes, here they are FTR, appearing decked out in their ROH and AAA Tag Team Championships, confronting ReDRagon. Does this mean a possible match, maybe at Double or Nothing this year? And will it be another MOTY contender, It wouldn’t surprise me.
“I’m the pinnacle of professional wrestling but people want to laugh about what happened to me tonight. I don’t need sympathy because I have money.”
MJF
MJF and Shawn Spears continue to be terrorized by WARDLOW during MJF’s losing effort against Captin Shawn Dean. the feud seems to be building very nicely with MJF using his power over WARDLOW to make his life hell and that comes in the form of The Butcher.
Nyla Rose proved to the world yet again that she is both hilarious and relatable during her beatdown of Thunda Rosa ahead of their match at Battle Of The Belts II. This whole segment is hilarious with Rose and Vickie Guerrero acting like the mean girls of the scene before AEW World Womans Champion Thunder Rosa has enough and smashes the cake they have brought with them into Nyla’s face. screaming
I LOVE CAKE AND VIOLENCE
Samoa Joe Vs Minoru Suzuki Headlines AEW Dynamite
Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt were ringside implying there was sure to be something going down during or after this match. Joe returned at ROH Supercard Of Honor to help Jonathan Gresham after being attacked by a newly turned bad guy Lethal. Everything that followed this match, which doesn’t hit right, and I’m not getting into why or why not when it comes to this situation, but it all relates back to the ROH Supercard Show over WrestleMania weekend. If you haven’t watched it, I suggest you seek it out.
Minoru Suzuki Vs Samoa Joe is a dream match for many of those who love Japanese wrestling, this match had everything and was more of a vicious fight than anything else. Bell to bell this is one of Joe’s best matches in years with him being presented how he should always be, as a dominant force whose Japanese influence is on display, he is even wearing his green trunks in an obvious nod to Misawa. Suzuki is no slouch either, going hard and being the absolute maniac we have all grown to love. A MOTY match if ever I saw one, this should be the match we are talking about when everyone is putting together their end-of-year lists, and yes I am aware it is only April at this point. If you haven’t seen this yet, then where have you been?
