Holy shit everyone, Hall H strikes again as Kevin Feige took the stage at SDCC 2022 to announce Phase 5 of the MCU and his plans going forward. We have a whole host of live-action movies and Disney + TV shows that will make up Phase 5 of the MCU.
There are some groundbreaking announcements that will shape the future of the MCU going forward, what are these groundbreaking announcements?
Let’s break them down.
BLADE IS BACK
We start off with one of the mega announcements, a reshaping of the cult classic Marvel vampire flick. Blade helped many people fall in love with the superhero genre while paving the way for Marvel to become the mega power they are today. While it will be Mahershala Ali and not Wesley Snipes portraying the famous vampire killer I’m sure Marvel will have no problems making this film a great ode to the classic of the same name that was released many moons ago.
Captain America: A New World Order
Ladies and Gentlemen and Non-Binary friends, we are getting a fourth Captain America film. Sam is getting his spotlight on the big screen and it will be in a film called New World Order which would make you think maybe the government is gonna be heavily involved. Maybe he will have to face off against a higher power, the Illuminati maybe a not murdered by Wanda version of them. Zemo could also be involved with his ties to Captain America and many governments in the MCU.
I am so happy we’re getting a new Captain America film and will be putting my ass In a seat for when it eventually comes out.
We Are Finally Getting Secret Invasion As A Mini-Series
Secret Invasion is next on our list, the mega event where Skrulls infiltrate earth and try to crumble it from the inside out. When villains and heroes are joining forces to stop an oncoming threat you know it’s very serious. With Skrulls taking the form of any character across the multiverse you really can’t trust anyone and the plot seems to be a political thriller. Fans will be in for one hell of a ride when this starts streaming on Disney + in the fall of 2023.
Guardians Of The Galaxy: Volume 3
We will all be in tears when the next installment of the guardians franchise comes around in theatres, as many characters seem to be getting the chop in the film including Drax and Rocket Raccoon. Also the overarching story of Peter Quill not being able to deal with Gamora’s death there are many deep stories to be going into in this film. With amazing villains such as Adam Warlock and the Great Evolutionary, it’s gonna be one hell of a swan song for some of Marvel’s best misfits.
Echo is coming to Disney + As A Hawkeye Spinoff
Echo is one of the characters we were introduced to in Hawkeye, the death killer quickly became one of everyone’s favorites trying to impress Kingpin and do whatever mission she was given. Her redemption story where she leaves Kingpin in the dust and drives away on her motorbike leads us very well into this show. Little is known about this series as of yet but I’m sure it will be very exciting if it’s based on the Echo comics. This is one of the projects we will have to have complete faith in Marvel in.
LOKI Is Back For Season 2
We will be getting season 2 of Loki, as confirmed at SDCC 2022, a show that split audiences down the middle either you liked it or you absolutely hated it. I despised it, to be honest, the story of Loki kissing himself just turned my belly, the only good thing to come out of it, in my opinion, was Kang being introduced into the MCU. Set pictures have already been released and they are looking fun so hopefully, if season 2 is good it can change my mind on the show as a whole but we will have to see.
Just give me Mobius on a beach that is all I ask for.
Ironheart Will Bring More Depth To the Iron Man Mythology
This series will be based on Riri Williams, the young superhero who builds the most advanced suit of armor since her hero Tony Stark built his. It will be exciting cause Riri can join the Young Avengers down the line with that team getting new characters with every show/film being announced, Kate Bishop, Yelena, Young Loki, and others are being built up to create this team, Riri and her Ironheart persona will be an absolutely amazing addition.
Agatha: Coven Of Chaos
Originally titled Agatha: House Of Harkness, Marvel Studios announced at SDCC 2022 that it had been changed to the much easier-to-say and cooler title Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
A show set before Wandavision, where we pick up with the noisy neighbor Agatha Harkness. The title would make you think it will delve deeper into Agatha’s past and how she became the evil witch that she is. In all honesty, this does seem like the odd one out when it comes to big projects but it will be fun to watch I’m sure, and still be a success in the long run.
Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania
The film that will close out Phase 5 according to the announcement at SDCC 2022, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a film that will be insane. You have the usual suspects Ant-Man, Wasp, and Marvel’s new big villain Kang The Conquerer.
Kang is a multiversal threat who will pose a big problem to the MCU for many phases to come or at least till Avengers Secret Wars. different post. You can tell by the poster this film will be huge for the future of the MCU and I for one am so excited about it.
The Marvels
A film that will bring together Captain Marvel and the two children turned superheroes who once looked up to Captain Marvel as inspiration. We have little knowledge of who the villain will be or what the general plot will be of this film. Here is one theory is that Ms. Marvel was sent to the negative zone when she swapped places with Captain Marvel in the post-credits scene of Ms. Marvel, and there might be a meeting between our heroes and Victor Von Doom. If this theory is true we will have to see but whoever or whatever the villain is I’m sure they’ll serve the film well.
Daredevil: Born Again
Charlie Cox is returning as the iconic blind superhero from Hell’s Kitchen in a new Disney + series. The title is actually based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller, which will excite the hearts of many of his fans. This looks like it will be a new take on the story of everyone’s favorite blind superhero, the title seems to suggest that this will be something new rather than a continuation of the successful Netflix series. It has always been debated if it was canon or not.
Since Charlie Cox appeared in No Way Home and Vincent D’Onofrio appeared in Hawkeye everyone was hoping these two would meet again. It seems like fans are getting their hopes answered with this upcoming 18-episode TV Show.
Thunderbolts Might Be Your New Favorite Team
Marvel’s answer to the Suicide Squad, an undercover villain team that acts like Heroes to gain control that becomes good anyways is finally getting their own Film. Characters such as Zemo, Yelena Belova, Us Agent, and even possibly Bucky could make up this team of misfit villains.
I’m happy it’s a film and not a TV show as I feel like you can dive deeper into the team and the characters in a film and give everyone their own time to shine. I am very excited to see how Marvel adapts this team into the ever-expanding universe of the MCU.
