Grafters (Gia Adams & HT Drake) vs Your Current Bad Boi Obsession (Taonga & Gene Munny)

Sometimes wrestling throws up matches like this, which might seem to outsiders as occurring in some sort of mirror universe. In most parts of the country, Taonga and Gene Munny are beloved fan favorites and a match against Drake and Adams would see them have the fan’s support. But not in NORTH.

It’s a testament to the skill of both Munny and Taonga that they’ve embraced the dark side so well without sacrificing what makes them interesting and charismatic wrestlers to watch. And against the no-nonsense North East duo of Adams and Drake, this was a proper contest.

Lots of good back and forth, with everyone facing off against everyone else, with Adams shining as the most powerful person in the match. HT Drake has consistently been one of the most overlooked workers in the UK and he showed just why yet again with another crisp performance. In the end, the home team picked up the win, with Taonga and Munny having done a great job of making Drake and Adams look like killers. A tag title shot for the locals could be in the near future, it would definitely be well received.

NORTH Ultraviolent Championship | Rory Coyle vs BA Rose vs Jet Martial vs Jack Turner

After Rory Coyle lost the NORTH Championship earlier this year he decided to bring back the old physical belt, now representing the Ultraviolent Title. And this was how the inaugural champion was determined. Three Yorkshiremen (who team in other promotions as the Violence Party) against the local hero Rory Coyle.

To underline his status as the favorite Coyle came out through the crowd, filming one of his trademark ‘video nasty’ promos on the way.

Now, full disclosure, hardcore wrestling isn’t particularly this writer’s thing, although if there’s an atmosphere and an environment in which it works, it was on this night in NORTH. All four men put their bodies on the line throughout with tonnes of hideous-looking offense. Lots of weaponry, brawling through the crowd, and a slow but creeping escalation of the violence throughout. Even for a non-fan, this was a compelling tale of how far they were all willing to go for the new title.

In the end, it was Coyle who picked up the win to firmly claim that new championship and kick off a new division for NORTH. But his celebrations didn’t last long as noted UK deathmatch legend Clint Margera confronted him, demanding a future match and then attacking Coyle for having the disrespect not to include him in this inaugural match. That match will be a spectacle, deathmatch wrestling is certainly not for everyone but if you’re a fan then both this match and the future one will be worth watching.

Crashboat (Jake Silver & Jack Bandicoot) vs She-Wolves (Kasey Owens & Molly Spartan)

Two great tag teams go head to head after the interval. Crashboat has been a sensation since joining NORTH, reaching the finals of the tag team title tournament and consistently getting huge reactions every time they appear. Seeing them against the She-Wolves is one of the matches that you wonder why no one hadn’t thought of it beforehand. It was great to see Kasey Owens make her NORTH debut as well, one of the best women in the country and someone who hasn’t nearly gotten the exposure her talent deserves.

Great match. We could leave it there really but let’s not.

Crashboat brought buckets of charisma and had the crowd firmly behind them while the She-Wolves enjoyed the power and viciousness advantage. Both teams have great internal chemistry built from years of teaming together and for a first-time match-up, there was a lot of chemistry on show between the teams as well. In the end, Crashboat got the victory after Bandicoot called in an actual dinghy that appeared to cart Owens off and leave Spartan alone.

A very fun match with a clever ending for a crowd that was clearly very into all four workers.
