For months, people have been speculating on the future of the AEW relationship with WBD (Warner Brothers Discovery), but as we await that news, TNA has cut its own new deal with the media juggernaut. The deal might not pertain to the US market, but it is a clear sign that interest in the TNA product is continuing to grow around the globe.
A Long History of Success
TNA has a long history of success in India. The brand has always enjoyed a big social media and YouTube following and good distribution and ratings on Indian TV. This new deal with WBD’s premium sports channel, Eurosport, in India, signals that good times might be coming back.
For many, the pinnacle of the relationship between TNA and India was the Ring Ka King, a wrestling series that lasted for four months in India in 2012 and was produced by TNA, especially for the TNA market. It may never get as hot as that again, but this could be the spark that rebuilds the relationship. We might even see a TNA show again in India one day.

A Lucrative Market
India is a major economy worldwide and could be a lucrative market for TNA. The wrestling world does not revolve around America anymore. As you can see from WWE’s PLE schedule, the international market is just as important, if not more so, than the domestic market.
What makes this expanded deal truly exciting is its exclusivity. The fact that it’s an exclusive deal, expanding on a previous one announced in March, is a testament to TNA’s growing success. Now, fans in India and its sub-continent will have the privilege of enjoying 200 hours of TNA wrestling each year on Eurosport.
TNA needs to continue to grow and to do that it needs more eyeballs on the product and more income. No matter how big or small the deal is financially to TNA, I think the people behind the scenes are doing good things, and I am sure they will be going after deals in other territories as well. TNA is an international brand and not an American independent. Although it might not be the biggest money earner, international TV distribution is important for TNA, its image, and its growth. I hope they can leverage the news coming out of India to get on more platforms across the globe.
