AEW Dynamite Has A Great Night In Baltimore

AEW Dynamite comes to you from Baltimore, the home of the Ravens, Edger Allan Poe, and the setting for Hairspray. We have a hoss fight between WARDLOW and W. Morrisey that was absolutely fantastic, while Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs are determined to take the belts off of The Jurassic Express. Elsewhere on the card, we got to see Dante Martin and Rey Fenix battle it out in a lucha libre extravaganza of a match that needs to be seen.

The Undisputed Era Are Here To Dominate

The Undisputed Elite is one of the biggest threats to every division and they are hoping to prove that on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. The night started with Adam Cole coming out as a guest commentator for this qualifying match for the men’s Owen Hart tournament. here we see Jeff Hardy face off against Bobby Fish with their tag partners, Matt Hardy and Kyle O’Riley, seconding them tonight. Jeff Hardy qualified by hitting a Swanton bomb on Bobby Fish, this felt like it shouldn’t have happened, mainly cause performance-wise Fish has outshone Hardy. But if this sets up a Hardy’s vs The Young Bucks match then that’s exciting.

The Blackpool Combat Club Is A Modern Day Peaky Blinders

The Blackpool Combat Club continues to be the best thing on all of AEW programming, be that Dynamite or Rampage. This week they face off against The Butcher, The Blade, and Angelico. Mox and The Blade have a history as they were rivals down in Cincinnati and both trained by Les Thatcher. This was a star-making performance for Yuta yet again, who is gearing up for his first Best of the Super Juniors, suplexing The Butcher, who is a fan favorite. I personally hope to see these two face off again.

The Women of AEW Shine on This Weeks Dynamite

This is what we want more of, good solid matches between the women of AEW. The division has needed a swift kick up the ass, or should we say, Tony Kahn, with fantastic performers within the division who can also help the young up and comers, the AEW Women’s World Championship should be on the same level as the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. And it was for a while, thanks to Britt Baker and her popularity and determination to be on every single show.

The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite was a match to determine the Undisputed Unified ROH Women’s World Champion, with Deonna Purrazo of IMPACT Wrestling facing off against AEW roster member and veteran Mercedes Martinez.

During WrestleMania weekend, ROH Champion Deonna Purrazo was booked on an IMPACT show, defending the AAA Reina de Reinas championship. So to combat this Kahn booked Martinez and Willow Nightingale to fight it out for the opportunity to be the interim champion at ROH Supercard of Honor. This isn’t the first time Martinez and Purrazo have faced off, with them battling it out in RISE and more recently IMPACT, for the Knockout’s Championship. This was a masterclass in submission wrestling and what the division really needs. Let’s hope we can get more of Deonna in AEW at some point.

The women have been well represented over the last few weeks on AEW Dynamite and Rampage, with rivalries being built outside of the championship. Baker and Hayter continue their rivalry with Ruby Soho and Toni Storm, who look fantastic together, hey Tony give us Women’s Tag Team Championships, please. They took their opportunity to promote their tag team match on this week’s AEW Rampage. In the championship scene, number one contender Serena Deeb confronted Thunder Rosa and set up their championship match at this year’s Double or Nothing. This will be a rematch of their epic bout a few years ago for ‘The Burke’, the NWA Women’s Championship.

It’s been a long time, champ. I watched you scratch and claw your way to the top. You earned your way to the top and I respect you and I truly believe we can make this the best women’s division in the entire world. But in order for that to happen the best women’s wrestler in the entire world needs to be champion.
