It’s that time of year; the Royal Rumble is on the horizon, which gets us wrestling fans excited for wrestling Christmas; Wrestlemania. This year, for us Brits, it’s a wonderful sight: the Royal Rumble emanates from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, so we get to watch it at a very reasonable time.

As always, the headline of the show is the men’s and women’s 30-person over-the-top rope battle royal and with a bustling midcard and up-and-coming talent in the mix, the Rumble could be a surprise for us all. However, it gets sticky for the winner, considering Drew has only just won the WWE Championship. I can’t see him dropping this, and Punk has only made 1 defensive.

Who will walk away from the melee of the Men’s Royal Rumble, cementing themselves in legacy and firmly on the Road to Wrestlemania? These are our top five picks.

Oba Femi

Oba Femi: Will he win the Royal Rumble this year?

Rouge pick considering he relinquished the NXT title last week and has yet to debut on the main roster, but this man needs to be billed as a monster, and what better way to introduce The Ruler to main roster fans than have him plough through the competition in the most dominant fashion and come away the victor.

I’d personally say have him beat the record that is, loosely, held by Braun Strowman for the most eliminations in a single competition. I think with Oba, have him go against Punk and just absolutely maul him, unlike Breakker, who got too overexcited and showed his inexperience, which caused him to pick up the L. Oba can be cool, calm, and composed to beat The Best in the World on the ‘Grandest Stage of them All’.
