Making her way to the ring, From Islington In London, England….’The Glamour’ Mariah May.

Before stepping foot inside the squared circle to get physical, Mariah May would work as a ring announcer for independent wrestling companies across the UK.

On February 2nd, 2019, Mariah debuted for Hustle Live at a show held in Enfield, England where she would face Nina Samuels who was at the time signed to NXTUK. Mariah lost her debut match on the independent scene, however, 2019 proved to be a widely successful year, gaining a mountain of experience and creating a character which fans would adore.

A few months had passed and it was not until 26th May 2019, that Mariah May would appear for Progress Wrestling at Chapter 89, entitled 26th May 1989 – Yes, you read that correctly, The 80s themed show for a company that was not only branded the best UK Promotion, but perhaps the best Indie company in the world at the time. Mariah would introduce an 80s-themed fitness instructor for this themed show and be named Mariah Egan as she battled Candy Lauper (Candy Floss) in an extremely fun match. (You can catch every chapter of Progress Wrestling on demand).

One month later in June, Mariah would team with Candy Floss in her debut match for Battle Pro Wrestling (BWP) in a losing effort against the team of Aleah James & Talia Martins, Mariah would return to BWP to challenge Talia Martins for the promotion’s Women’s championship but unfortunately fell short.

Fast forwarding to September  2019, Mariah debuted again for another UK promotion, this time over at British Empire Wrestling (BEW) where she would compete in a gauntlet match against some of the hottest names on the UK scene at the time – Molly Spartan, Chantal Jordan & Eden Von Engeland. It was just four weeks later that Mariah would once again debut for yet another promotion – In Out Wrestling where she competed in a four-way match, once again sharing the ring with Chantal Jordan and two new opponents in Hannah Taylor and the winner that night, Rhio.

Mariah would end the year of 2019 with a statement victory over one of the UK’s favourite wrestlers, Lana Austin where she competed for DNA Pro Wrestling, in Ipswich. A Promotion that I hold in extremely high regard at their final event of the year – How the Grinch Stole BritWres.

2020 came and went, as we all know, a worldwide pandemic caused the world to halt, leading to many independent companies unsure of their futures, however, before the pandemic, Mariah would feature again in the UK, most notably teaming up with Danny Duggan to face Dominita & Kenny Kilbaine at ASW before then once again facing Nina Samuels and winning a number one contender match for the SWW Women’s championship. Unfortunately, that championship opportunity would not arrive due to unforeseen circumstances.

Due to the Pandemic, Mariah, much like many others, would not compete until 2021, a career-changing year.

A Star Is Born

On June 26th, 2021, 13 months after last competing on the UK scene, Mariah would debut for one of the hottest UK promotions – TNT Wrestling where she teamed with Zoe Lucas in a losing effort against the highly regarded team of Molly Spartan & Kasey Owens, the aptly named She-Wolves.

One Month Later, a huge opportunity stood in front of Mariah as she challenged the Revolution Pro Wrestling Women’s Champion, Gisele Shaw at a show held in Bristol, UK. Unfortunately falling short on this occasion she would once again challenge Gisele for the same gold In Manchester, UK for Rev Pro. Albeit in defeat during both encounters with Gisele Shaw, Mariah was building huge momentum in 2021 featuring for Revolution Pro Wrestling and also competing in the Queen of the Ring Tournament.

2021 proved to be monumental for ‘The Glamour’ as she ended 2021 on a high debuting for UPW (Ultimate Pro Wrestling), Kamikaze Pro, and TCW (Tidal Championship Wrestling) racking up wins over Amira Blair & Hannah Taylor just to name a few.

2022 was on the horizon and so was a return to the Revolution Pro Wrestling ring in both London & Portsmouth before successfully defending gold at United Wrestling UK over both Echo Reed & LA Taylor in a Three Way match. A busy schedule in March & April of that year would arrive as she would head over to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania represent Battleground Championship Wrestling and defeat Lady Frost on PPV, Mariah would tour the states in April, travelling to New Jersey & Texas where another title match was ahead of her, this time falling short against Raychell Rose at New Texas Pro.

The month of April did not end there, returning to Kamikaze Pro in the UK and then a short journey to Germany where she would defeat Maddi Almightyy at DWA (Deutsche Wrestling Allianz). 2022 would close out with a win over Zia Brookside in October of that year at ASW (All Star Wrestling).

A Star was indeed born…..

Mariah May would debut on January 3rd for Stardom, representing Club Venus, alongside Mina Shirakawa & Xia Brookside, in fact, her first taste of victory was in Block ‘Triangle Red’ of the Triangle Derby. Venus Club would end the block in 4th place on 8 points, not making it to the semi-finals. January would also see an opportunity for Mariah & Xia to represent Club Venus in the New Blood Tag Team Title Tournament where they were beaten by Starlight Kid & Karma.

Mariah would continue to wrestle in tag team matches until March when the ‘Sexy Dynamite Princess’ would defeat Super Strong Stardom Big Machine in her first taste of singles competition.

Up next was an opportunity in the Cinderella Tournament 2023 where Mariah would make it to the third round but exit the tournament in defeat to Mai Sakura.

It was during this tournament on 30th September, that Mariah would face Hanan in her final match of both the tournament and serving as a farewell match from Stardom, capping off a hugely successful year for the British star.

All Elite ‘Glamour’ was rumoured across the IWC, with rumours emerging that Mariah had signed with AEW, these turned out to be true as on the 8th of November Mariah was announced and introduced to the AEW audience alongside RJ City as a superman of AEW Women’s Champion, “Timeless” Toni Storm.

Mariah has flanked Toni Storm ever since, with the duo alongside Toni’s butler, Luther, engaged in fantastic backstage and ringside segments, it was announced on AEW Dynamite that Mariah would make her in-ring debut on the January 3rd edition of Dynamite, facing a former AEW Women’s champion, Riho.

Stay tuned for more on the seemingly bright future of Mariah May as we eagerly anticipate a similar super fan face turn, much like what we saw with the legendary Mickie James & Trish Stratus.
