Mo Salah, The Egyptian King Stays On Merseyside

Today here at Lace Em Up, we will be talking about the news coming out of Anfield that Mo Salah has signed a new 3-year contract at Merseyside. This will see him gain £350,000 a week at the club.

Why Is He Staying?

Mo Salah has decided to stay at Liverpool, after a summer of would he won’t he, he has finally put pen to paper on a new 3-year deal to keep him at Merseyside, keeping him at the club until 2025. He is a true club legend after 5 glorious years at Liverpool contributing 120 goals in 193 games and winning everything he can. People were worried Mo would want a new challenge but the Egyptian King has dedicated his future to the Reds, news that will put smiles on many faces around Merseyside.

Liverpool Broke The Bank To Keep Their Star Player

It’s been well documented that Liverpool has a wage structure that they don’t break for anyone, which everyone thought would cost Liverpool in trying to retain their player. No Salah’s agent was asking for £350,000 a week which FSG and Liverpool weren’t budging on.

There was much belief next summer, after Salah’s contract ended, that the player would leave on a free transfer and Liverpool would have no say where he ended up. There is no word on if Klopp budged or if FSG budged and decided to give Mo what he wants but today at 4 pm Mo Salah was happy with the contract he was offered and Liverpool posted an announcement video to their socials showing the new deal.

How Important Is He To Liverpool?

Liverpool is a club with a history of great players who have contributed to the club’s success. In recent years no one has been more important to the Club’s success than their own Egyptian King Mo Salah.

Becoming an instant with the fans after amazing performances against Everton and Roma, the Reds knew they had a special player on their hands. With having won the Premier League, Champions League, both domestic cups and a club world cup and UEFA super cup and playing an integral part in each competition Mo Salah was only ever gonna be a hit for the reds, creating an iconic trio with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, Mo Salah has proven to be not only a Premier League legend but also a Liverpool one.

Klopp’s Influence

There are rumors that Juergen Klopp met with Mo Salah to convince him to stay at the club and it does make sense. Jurgen Klopp is a hell of a manager and one that has transformed Liverpool, and Mo Salah has been one of his best successes. He signed the Egyptian for 36.9 million Euros from Basel and he has repaid every bit of that becoming the first name on the team sheet ever since he joined the club. With Salah signing a three-year extension many magical moments are certainly set to happen for this duo.

How Will Mo Salah Link Up With Liverpool’s New Signings?

Liverpool has signed Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho in an attacking sense which are two players who Salah could link up with Beautifully. Carvalho could play through the middle with Salah on the wing and Darwin Nunez through the middle for Salah to assist and link up with. Calvin Ramsey is a new young right-back option who could become someone Salah could pick up the ball from and create goal-scoring chances with. With the amount of game time, Trent Alexander Arnold got last season Ramsey and Salah could become a useful duo for the reds.

Mo Salah signing on the dotted line for Liverpool is more important than The Reds signing a new player. With how important the Egyptian has been in the last 5 years there is no doubt this is one of the most important days for Liverpool in recent years. Mo Salah is a Liverpool legend and with the new extension, I’m sure he’ll leave Anfield with a couple of shiny accolades before he says goodbye to the Anfield faithful.
