#8. The Boy With A Thorne By His Side

MVP’s WWE return saw the master of the playmaker memorably manage the Raw-dominating stable The Hurt Business but do you remember his first project? MVP actually managed the brief main roster tag team of Shane Thorne and Brendan Vink in the early months of the lockdown era.
After both NXT call-ups had a few matches as enhancement talent, the two sought the management of MVP on the April 27th 2020 edition of Raw. The partnership proved effective with a victory against Ricochet and Cedric Alexander, a team that the former The Might Don’t Kneel members had lost to previously. The team had five matches overall, the last of which was a six-man tag loss with MVP against Ricochet, Alexander, and R-Truth.
Afterwards, a post-match angle saw Montel Vontavious Porter walk off with Bobby Lashley as commentator Samoa Joe remarked: “Clearly, this is a team to be reckoned with.”
Perhaps this moment is so forgotten by the later pandemic work of the involved participants, including Shane Thorne who was soon enough wearing a sex dungeon mask, calling himself Slapjack, and destroying the SmackDown set like the little scamp he no doubt is.
